How It Started

The late Bishop C. E. and Dr. Elinor Montgomery are the parents of Pastor Dan. Together they founded Greater Christ Temple Church and the Oasis of Hope Center in Tacoma, WA where they made a significant impact in many lives and built a legacy of love in the communities they served. Through their love they raised 10 children and led by example the importance of serving God and serving people.

Pastor Dan is carrying the legacy of love forward and has a God-given gift connecting with people of all walks of life. He genuinely cares about people becoming their best selves through Christ.

Dan and his wife Cheryl have served in ministry since 1983. They have been blessed with two sons, a daughter-in-love, and three beautiful granddaughters.

Cheryl loves to “connect the dots” between the Scriptures and real life. Whether teaching people how improving their credit is connected to being a good steward to how having and accomplishing goals gives God glory, how loving your family helps people see the love of God in your life. They have willingly accepted the God-given assignment of reaching the lost, the hurting, and disenfranchised people of our community by sharing the message of the Gospel: - that God loves us and has always loved us; that God longs to be in relationship with us; that God’s waiting for YOU to come home.
